It can happen to close and reopen the editor for several reasons, the fact remains that it is a small bug in the new update and that we all hope will be resolved. They do not want to be complaints, but after having spent a lot of money to buy a G2 Clavia is right that we give the best support for its products or mistake?

sorry my bad English

I think I'll wait, doesn't sound like the update really gets an XP user much.

In general, I don't like to leave applications running when I'm not using them because they consume resources that might cause other applications to run more slowly.

Well, I'm also still running Windows XP on my two computers that I use with my G2X, so I have no reason to "update" to the 1.60 version.

But, what they did not specify is that OS 1.40 is compatible with OS 1.60 patches, something I would like to verify -

I would appreciate it very much if someone who has updated to 1.60 please build a new patch, save it to disk, and then post it here so that I can test that my 1.40 Editor can open the patch and that it will run OK on my 1.40 G2X.

Verified Exclamation

Well at least I can say that Jan's 1.60 perf loads into my 1.40 G2X, but as with many of Jan's other noodles, it is hard for me to tell if it is "running OK". Laughing Just kidding Jan! Thanks for helping me with the test.

I think this is what was pretty much the expectation most people had, given the limited responses from CLavia.

Clavia is a very small company, trying to survive like everybody else.

Given the horrible state of the world economy right now, I am very thankful they released this update. That's it.

The bug mentioned... not even worth worrying about.

Thank you, Clavia! Hang in there.

Good news, Thanx, Clavia. I can keep recommended Clavia synth to my friends now&

The only question: Are there bugs (beside the listed below) in modules fixed?

Fixed bugs, all platforms
Tool tip text of the OscMaster coarse parameter has been corrected.
Patch Level display differed slightly in the synth and the editor.
Some patches with many modules with many parameters made the G2 halt.
Save As now suggest the entire filename and not only the valid 16 characters.
Fixed a problem with gain in FltStatic when changing between variations where it was in different modes.
Clicking sound was removed from the lowest setting in the built in glide.
Doing more than 25 simultaneous parameter changes you could on rare occasions lose one.

The fix list you posted was the version 1.40 fix list, there should be no differences between 1.40 and 1.60, so no additional bug fixes. The 1.60 update addresses computer OS compatibility issues only.

Having complained publically and privately to Clavia, I wish to thank them for finally releasing this new upgrade for the Mac Intel and Vista machines. While I'm disappointed there aren't any new modules or fixes, I'm happy the G2 is now compatible with the latest Macs and PCs. All in all, the G2 is still the best hardware synth out there for modular synthesists. IMHO

thanks

Today I got a USB related BSOD under Vista ... never had that before (not with the 1.41 beta software from Clavia either) ... it was a not too long after I rebooted the G2 and restarted the editor (which I did after the editor lights stopped working ... I thought that bug was fixed, but I was wrong). Anyway I was wiggling a transport control in a flash movie player thingy at the time it did poof ... so it could have been the USB sound device too (especially as the computer will not turn off with that sound device connected, so that one stinks for sure (US-122)) ...

Did other people see BSODs possibly related to the new Clavia software?

FWIW, for a while I would get a BSOD just about every time I dragged a web browser window from one monitor to the other if that window was displaying an Adobe Acrobat file. If I dragged an Adobe Acrobat window in the same way, there was no problem.

After I installed a new version of the driver for my graphics card, the problem went away.

So if your machine crashed while you were fiddling with a Flash window, it could well be that your problem is associated with the video display driver, not with the G2.

PostPosted: Wed Feb 04, 2009 9:45 pm    Post subject: CPU usage Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

I'm pleased that Clavia released this, but I was expecting the Intel-mac version of the OS to run faster than the previous version, which ran in Power-PC mode.

The Power-PC mode editor would run at 17% CPU usage on my Intel mac.
The new Intel-mac editor runs the same patch at 34% CPU usage on my Intel mac for the same patch.

This is the exact opposite of what I expected... although it may not be the case whenever snow-leopard OSX is out (which aims to remove the Power-PC backwards compatibility).

Is anyone experiencing this type of CPU usage when they compare the old / new editor? What about Windows users, Vista or otherwise?

Edit:
To be clear, I am glad to have this new editor in any case. I would much rather run this new editor on Snow Leopard than be forced to run the G2 editor from an XP virtual machine or some similar solution.

Wow!

What's that do then?

{runs off to have a look}

Edit: Brilliant! They've fixed the "broken connection when editor closed and re-opened" issue. Wonder why that didn't get looked at in the beta phase? I for one reported it sometime in the middle of last year!

Ah well - all good on that front! Smile

Edit 2: Yep - works OK. Just tried it.

I have installed 1.62 on my G2 and computers. So far it works just like 1.40 -- i.e. no problems (unlike 1.60).

I'm don't think this topic is appropriate for such a discussion, so I started this one: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-32007.html
